Cover materials and tools laid out for a reupholstery job
New Jersey

New covers, specified to survive service

When the material itself has gone, the job is a new cover. What decides whether it lasts two years or ten is what gets specified before anyone picks up a staple gun.

Bar furniture reupholstery in New Jersey

Only when the cover has actually gone

Bar furniture reupholstery is the last of four options, not the first. If the damage is local it is repair. If the room has drifted out of match it is restoration. Reupholstery is for when the material is split, hardened, delaminating or simply finished.

We will tell you which one you are looking at from photographs, and we will say so even when the cheaper answer is the one that pays us less.

Most bar furniture reupholstery in New Jersey is a run of stool pads or a single banquette wall rather than a whole room. Rooms get done a section at a time, which is why the bar never has to close for it.

Specification

What the cover has to be rated for

A commercial vinyl swatch for venue seating
Abrasion

Rub count

Contract seating wants a high double-rub figure. Domestic material behind a bar fails inside a year.

Rolls of performance upholstery fabric
Cleanability

Spirits and citrus

Alcohol, lime and sugar attack coatings. The cover has to take a bleach-dilution wipe nightly.

Code

Flame rating

Public rooms want material that meets the relevant flame spec. We specify it; you keep the documentation.

Match

Colour across the room

A new run beside aged seating is a matching problem. Sampled against what you already have.

We will not fit domestic-weight material in a trading room. It is the one thing we refuse, because you would pay for it twice.

How a run is done

Templated in the room, fitted in sections

Stool seats come off at the plate and go back on the same bases. Banquette panels are templated in place — a built-in run will not take a pattern cut anywhere else and still keep its line.

Twelve stool pads is one night. A thirty-foot banquette wall is two. Big rooms go in sections so the bar keeps trading throughout.

What gets replaced while it is open

Foam

Density, not thickness

Contract-density foam, cut to the original profile. Soft foam feels right for a month.

Edges

Edge roll rebuilt

The front edge takes the weight. Without a rebuilt roll a new cover bags out in a season.

What a recovered run costs

Priced per seat, falling with the count — one visit covers twelve pads as easily as three. Material is the variable: vinyl is the workhorse, coated leather costs more and looks it.

Against new seating it is not close. A recovered stool is a fraction of a new one and keeps the base you already chose, which on a custom bar is usually the expensive part.

Lead time is the cover, not the labour. Stock vinyl goes in within the week; a specified leather or a patterned contract fabric runs two to four.

Quiet months are the ones to book: January through March, and again in September, when a bar in New Jersey can give up two nights without giving up a weekend.

Photograph the worst seat and count the rest. We come back with a per-seat price, a run price, and two or three cover options against what is already in the room.

Asked by operators

Before you book

Do we need reupholstery or will a repair do?

If the cover is intact and the damage is local, repair. If it has drifted out of colour, restoration. Reupholstery is for material that has actually gone.

Can we choose the material?

Yes, from contract-grade options sampled against your room. We will not fit domestic-weight material in a trading space.

How long does a run take?

Twelve stool pads is one night. A thirty-foot banquette wall is two. Lead time on the cover is the longer part.

Does the bar have to close?

No. Work runs after close or before open, and big rooms go in sections.

Do the stools leave the building?

Only if you want them to. Seat pads come off at the plate and go back on the same bases.

Can you match a run we recovered before?

Yes, sampled against the seats already in the room rather than a book.

Is the foam replaced too?

Where it has gone, yes — contract density, and the edge roll rebuilt. A new cover over collapsed foam bags out in a season.

We will spec the run and price it

Per-seat and run pricing, two or three cover options, and a night that does not cost you a service.
