Where beds wear

Low, on the edges, and behind your head

A sofa wears where you sit. A bed wears where you bump it and where you lean on it. Almost every upholstered bed repair NJ homeowners send us starts in one of these three places.

Base cornersKnees, vacuum heads and suitcases hit the corners of the base. They scuff and wear through first.
Piping and seamsThe welt along the edges takes every bump, cracks and finally splits open.
Headboard faceHeads, hair oil and hand lotion darken and crack the area people lean against.
Beds we work on

What we fix

Six common bed problems

Most are repairs, not recovers. The last one is where we will tell you a new cover makes more sense.

Worn corners on an upholstered bed

Worn corners

Scuffed and rubbed-through corners on the base and footboard, rebuilt and recolored to match.

Cracked piping on an upholstered bed

Cracked piping

Welts along the edges dry out and crack. They are repaired or remade in matching leather.

Tufting cracks on an upholstered bed

Tufting cracks

Leather pulled tight around buttons cracks in a star. The cracks are filled and the button retied.

Pet scratches on an upholstered bed

Pet scratches

Cats and dogs claw the low sides of a bed. Scratches are filled and blended into the grain.

Stains on an upholstered bed

Stains

Coffee, makeup and hair products on light leather, cleaned out or color-corrected.

Peeling finish on an upholstered bed

Peeling finish

Bonded or bi-cast leather that flakes off its backing. Past a point, recovering is the honest fix.

The work

Three levels of repair

Clean and condition on a leather bed

Clean and condition

Rails and footboards cleaned and fed so the leather bends instead of cracking.

Rebuild edges on a leather bed

Rebuild edges

Corners and piping filled, reshaped and recolored, the most common bed repair.

Re-pad and recover on a leather bed

Re-pad and recover

Flattened padding replaced under a new cover when a headboard or base is too far gone.

Color matched to your bed

We mix color against the leather on your bed, so a repaired corner sits with the rest of the frame.

Good to know

The cover is ours, the frame is not

Upholstered bed repair NJ customers book with us covers the leather or fabric and the padding under it. Squeaks, loose rail brackets and broken slats are carpentry. If your photos show a frame problem, we will point it out so it can be fixed at the same time.

Questions

Bed Repair FAQ

What people ask before booking upholstered bed repair NJ wide.

Can you repair my bed without taking it apart?

Usually, yes. Corners, piping, scratches and color are worked on where the bed stands. Recovering a headboard or base panel may mean unbolting that panel first, and we will say so with the estimate.

What if my bed is bonded leather and peeling?

Bonded and bi-cast leather peel because the thin surface lets go of its backing. Small areas can be patched, but when it is peeling all over, recovering in real leather or fabric is the honest upholstered bed repair NJ owners should consider.

Do you repair fabric beds too?

Yes. Stained or worn fabric headboards and bases can be cleaned, re-padded or recovered in a fabric you choose.

Do you fix the frame, slats or rails?

No. Our work is the upholstery. Loose bolts, broken slats or a cracked rail need a carpenter, and we will mention it if we see it.

How do I get a price?

Text or email a photo of the whole bed and close-ups of the worst areas to (347) 310-7483 or office@leatherrestorepro.com, or use the free estimate form.
